Janz, this article is so helpful for me - a disabled person. I have a degree, two in fact, but cannot work due to my medical conditions. I get so uncomfortable when the first question after I meet someone is, "so what do you do for a living?" I have started asking people "what are you passionate about" instead. Great writing in this essay - you've always been so thoughtful.

Juliann!!! Thank you so much for reading! it really is such an uncomfortable question. What are you passionate about is so much more creative and interesting 💝

I have had more genuine conversations since I started leading with that type of question. It's also made me realize how many people in life have a dope hobby that geek out about. It gives me the freedom to claim mine too

Heavens yesss! There are so many more cool things to talk about and I think it changes the entire energy of the convo! Way less exclusive and a freedom to actually be yourself!
